Turkey have finished strongly to defeat Ukraine 72-57 in their opening second round game at the Dadu U16 European Championship Men. Ukraine managed to stay with Turkey for two-and-a-half quarters before falling away in the final 15 minutes as Omer Ugurata mobilised his big men inside the paint, forcing Ukraine to look towards their outside shooting in an effort to keep with the Turks. In those important last 15 minutes, Turkey outscored Ukraine 44-30, holding their opponents to nine points from the floor in the last quarter. Leading scoring for Turkey was Egemen Guven with 15 points on six-for shooting from the floor. Mehmet Alemdaroglu contributed 14. Yevgen Balaban topped scoring for Ukraine with 14 points.
