Poland and Lithuania started off the Classification Round with wins as they seek to avoid relegation to Division B. In Pardubice, Poland used a fourth-quarter surge to defeat Bulgaria, 81-65. The game started evenly and the half-time score was 41-39 to Bulgaria. But Bulgaria committed too many turnovers (24 in total) and Poland began the final period on a 24-6 run which sealed victory. Damian Jeszke (21 points, 13 rebounds) and Mikolaj Witlinski (15 points, 16 rebounds) grabbed double-doubles in victory for Poland. Aleksandar Vezenkov contributed 30 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocked shots to lead Bulgaria. In Hradec Kralove, Lithuania overpowered Montenegro, holding their opponents to just 21 points in the first half. Lithuania's rebounding strength ensured that Montenegro never came close throughout the contest. Edvinas Seskus scored 16 points in the first half and ended with a double-double (19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 steals). Karolis Razukas added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Luka Djurovic led Montenegro with 19 points. |
