Poland took a crucial step to maintaining their Division A status with a 67-55 win over Montenegro. Poland held a 33-32 lead at half-time but began the second half on a 9-0 run and resisted Montenegro's attempts at a comeback. Montenegro were held to 35% shooting for the game and Poland took a large rebounding advantage (50-32) to secure victory. Mikolaj Witlinski played a large part in the success, grabbing 20 of those rebounds and completing a double-double with 16 points. Adam Mazur added 15 points including 5 in the game-winning run in the third quarter. Captain Luka Djurovic had 15 points, 5 steals and 5 assists for Montenegro, and Luka Savic recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Lithuania maintained their 100% start to the Classification Round with a 92-77 win over Bulgaria, who are still searching for their first win of the U16 European Championship Men. A strong first-half saw Lithuania take a 50-35 lead at half-time, and Bulgaria were never able to get close. The Lithuanian team shot 57% compared to 46% from their opponents. Edvinas Seskus shot 11-15 on his way to 25 points. Paulius Zalys added 14 points. Aleksandar Vezenkov was Bulgaria's outstanding performer with 36 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. |
