Kevin Casper and Germany rebounded from the loss to Poland to clinch a spot in the Quarter-Finals
Germany are safely through to the quarter-finals at the Dadu U16 European Championship Men, following their 58-47 win over Greece on Tuesday evening.
After making just 11 three-pointers in their opening four games of the tournament, Germany were rewarded for looking outside more often against the Greeks, hitting six from outside the arc, often at crucial moments, to book their quarter-final berth with a game to spare.
In another topsy-turvy low-scoring game that only had Germany in front by three going into the final frame, Andreas Obst came to life off the bench for the Germans in the last quarter, scoring eight points to open up some breathing space for his team.
Obst ended with his personal-best points haul in Lithuania of 20. Jan Wimberg was also prominent in the final frame, picking up five points to end with 11. In the second big rebounding performance of the evening, Niklas Kiel pulled down 17 boards.
Once again Dmitrios Stamitis lead Greece with 13 points.
In their final group game against France, Germany will be fighting for a higher finish in the group ahead of the next round. Greece must now defeat hosts Lithuania to have any chance of making the top eight.
